Uniqlo Expands in Germany: New Stores Coming to Munich and Frankfurt

Japanese fashion giant Uniqlo is continuing its expansion across Germany. According to reports from German media, the company is set to open its first store in Munich in 2025. Initially, the opening was planned for a location in the Alte Akademie in Munich’s pedestrian zone. However, that plan fell through following the insolvency of real estate investor René Benko.
Now, Uniqlo has secured a new location in the vibrant Schwabing district. The upcoming store will be located at Leopoldstraße 35, where a Zara branch previously operated. The opening is scheduled for fall 2025, as reported by the Augsburger Allgemeine.
But customers won’t have to wait that long to see more from the brand in Germany. A new store is also set to open in Frankfurt later this year, bringing the total number of Uniqlo locations in the country to twelve. The brand made its German debut in 2014 with a flagship store in Berlin and has since expanded to major cities like Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and Stuttgart.
Bringing “LifeWear” to More German Shoppers
Uniqlo’s product line is centered on simple, affordable, and high-quality apparel for women, men, children, and babies. The company has a clear vision for its presence in Germany. As Merkur reports, Uniqlo aims to make its “LifeWear” concept — clothing inspired by Japanese values of quality, simplicity, and durability — more widely available across the country.
The brand’s minimalist style and focus on everyday essentials have resonated globally, and Uniqlo sees strong potential for continued growth in the German market. Its expansion efforts reflect a broader strategy to strengthen its presence in key European cities.
Outdoor Fashion Competition Heats Up
Uniqlo isn’t the only brand eyeing growth in Germany. A Swedish fashion retailer has also entered the German market, recently launching its first store in the country. The company specializes in outdoor clothing, adding more diversity to Germany’s retail landscape and offering consumers additional choices in functional fashion.
